A Message from Jose Velasquez

“As a lifelong member of our local community, father of two, and water industry professional with more than seventeen years of leadership serving municipal water districts throughout Southern California, I understand that safe, reliable, and affordable water is essential to every family and business.

During my first term on the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District Board, I worked to protect ratepayers by supporting responsible financial stewardship and long-term planning. Together, the Board reduced property tax rates by 64%, providing taxpayers with more than $60 million in tax relief while continuing to make responsible investments to ensure a safe and reliable water supply.

My professional experience has helped water agencies secure millions of dollars in grants and financing for critical infrastructure, strengthen financial accountability, and maintain balanced budgets. I remain committed to maintaining that same fiscal discipline and transparency in every decision made on behalf of our community.

As your Director, I will continue working to protect taxpayer dollars, strengthen our region's water reliability, invest responsibly in our infrastructure, and ensure safe, sustainable water supplies for future generations.
