MY PRIORITIES
Protecting Taxpayers. Planning Ahead. Securing Our Water Future.
As your Division 1 Director, my priorities are focused on a simple responsibility: making sure our region has the reliable water supplies and infrastructure it needs while protecting the taxpayers who fund those investments.
Water decisions made today can affect our communities for generations. I will continue bringing my professional water and financial experience to the Board to support responsible investments, strong regional partnerships, and long-term planning for our water future.
Here are the four priorities that will continue guiding my decisions on the Board.
01 - PROTECT TAXPAYER DOLLARS
Every dollar entrusted to the District belongs to the public, and I believe it should be managed accordingly.
I will continue supporting responsible budgets, strong financial oversight, transparent decision-making, and careful evaluation of major investments before taxpayer dollars are committed.
Our recent property tax reduction demonstrates that strong financial planning can produce real benefits for taxpayers while maintaining the District's ability to invest in our long-term water needs.
My goal is not simply to spend less, it is to make sure we invest wisely and deliver the greatest long-term value for the communities we serve.
02 - SECURE OUR WATER FUTURE
A reliable water supply requires planning decades ahead.
I will continue supporting a diversified approach to water reliability that strengthens our local groundwater supplies while maintaining access to the regional and statewide water systems our communities depend on.
That means continuing to invest in groundwater recharge and storage, stormwater capture, conservation, recycled water, and regional partnerships, while preparing for drought and other potential disruptions to our water supply.
The District's long-term planning looks ahead through 2050, and maintaining reliability will require continued investment in a diverse portfolio of water resources.
Our responsibility is to make sure the next generation inherits a reliable water system, not the water problems we failed to address today.
03 - INVEST IN INFRASTRUCTURE
88,000 ACRE-FEET
Potential annual stormwater capture and storage capacity
Reliable water requires reliable infrastructure.
I will continue supporting strategic investments in the facilities needed to capture, move, recharge, store, and deliver water throughout our region.
Projects like the Santa Ana River Enhanced Recharge Project demonstrate the value of making smart infrastructure investments. The project added 20 recharge basins and expanded the region's ability to capture and store up to 88,000 acre-feet or 28.7 billion gallons of local stormwater each year for use during dry years.
I will also continue supporting efforts to pursue grants, partnerships, and other funding opportunities that can help deliver needed infrastructure while reducing the burden on local taxpayers.
We should build the infrastructure our region needs—but we should build it responsibly.
04 - PLAN FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS
PLANNING THROUGH 2050
Preparing today for tomorrow's water needs.
Some of the most important decisions a Water Board makes will not produce results overnight.
I believe we have a responsibility to look beyond the next budget year or election cycle and plan for the water needs of our children and grandchildren.
That includes preparing for population growth, drought, climate uncertainty, emergencies, aging infrastructure, and changes to California's water system.
It also means thoughtfully evaluating long-term opportunities such as Sunrise Ranch, where the District's adopted Master Plan identifies water supply infrastructure as the highest priority and explores opportunities for future storage and other regional benefits.
The decisions we make today should leave the next generation with a stronger and more reliable water system than the one we inherited.
